Getting Around Bali

Getting Around Bali

There are many modes of transport to help you getting around Bali. A variety of excellent half day, full day and overnight tour packages are available from your hotel desk or any of the numerous travel agents and tour operators which abound in Bali. You can also find a car and driver who will also be your guide. Tell the driver your desired route and negotiate a fee.

  1. Car And Motorcycle Rentals
Travellers who can drive or ride a bike are at a massive advantage as the best way to move around in Bali is with your own vehicle. Scooters, also known as ‘motors’ can be rented for a day. Several tourist agencies in Kuta and Seminyak offer these bikes for rent. Wearing a helmet is vital. An even cheaper alternative is renting a bicycle. If your budget is on the higher side, you could hire a car along with a driver. If you intend to rent a self-drive car, you must carry your international driver’s license. Remember that the Balinese drive on the left hand side of the road. Check prices of renting and fuels with various vendors before committing to one, to avoid overpaying, as these prices keep changing.
  2. Private Car Hire
If you want to discover the island of gods and some of the many beautiful wonders of Bali in the most efficient and comfortable manner, then we would suggest to rent a car or minibus with a driver. Prices in Bali for Car Rentals are rather cheap compared to other holiday destinations – particularly when you hire with a driver.
It is possible to rent a car without a driver and drive on your own (you need international driving license!), but it’s not much cheaper. And, Bali is “very dynamic”, with many small roads, not many road signs, and with a driving culture that can be described as “intuitive” and chaotic. Not easy to drive here without getting stressed real quickly.
  3. Ojek Online
The introduction of mobile apps such as ‘Go Jek’ and Uber’s ‘Uber MOTOR’ has made Ojek a lot more reliable. The minimum payment is IDR 30,000 for a distance of 5 kilometres.
